DAMAULI: Nepali Congress lader Sujata Koirala said she would run for presidency of the party in the upcoming 13th national general convention.

The largest party in the Parliament is scheduled to hold the convention on March 3-6 in the Capital.

Talking to journalists in Damauli of Tanahun district today, the leader said she had been advocating within the party for leadership transformation in the NC.

The top three leaders – incumbent President Sushil Koirala, senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba and Vice-President Ram Chandra Paudel – should be advisors and the next generation should lead the party, she suggested.

Meanwhile, the former deputy prime minister urged party fellows to give an end to all factional activities.

Koirala also criticised the party leadership for failing to hold elections of its sister organisations.

The leader also said there is no alternative to talks to resolve the current political crisis of the nation.
