Surgical delivery halted for four months
Bhojpur, November 4
Surgical delivery service, which was halted more than three months ago, is yet to resume at Bhojpur District Hospital.
Cesarean section delivery was halted at the hospital from July 4 after an assistant anesthetist at the hospital Suresh Thapa was transferred to Province 5 under the employee adjustment process.
C-section delivery cannot be performed in the absence of anesthesiologist. With the closure of the service, many pregnant women are compelled to reach Dharan, Biratnagar and Kathmandu for health check-up and parturition services, among others.
Pregnant women of the district face further difficulty due to lack of easy transportation services. According to hospital sources, on average, 3,000 women reached the hospital for delivery in a year.
