Surkhet bridge collapse toll 20

Surkhet, December 28:

The bodies of three more victims of the Tuesday’s bridge collapse at Suvaghat over the Bheri river in Surkhet district were found today. So far, 20 bodies have been recovered while eight others are still gone missing.

Inspector Yogendra Khadka at the district police office said search teams found the bodies of Dipak Sunar, 10, of Dahchaur VDC 3, Bhimmaya Thapa, 22, of Gumi VDC 3 and Rupa Darlami, 19, of Dahchaur VDC 4.

Kamala Chhetri and Bhakta Bahadur Pun of Saharey VDC 4, Mansari Sunar, Top Bahadur Sunar and Binita Pokhrel of Dahchaur VDC 4, Hira Kumari Khatri of Khajura Banke and 8-month-old Prashant Rajali of Gumi VDC 3 are among those who have still gone missing.

Teams of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force are still conducting search operations. Three more teams were sent here from Kathmandu to assist in the operations.
