KATHMANDU: Police said they have arrested a 28-year-old woman from Bheriganga-14 of Surkhet on Sunday on charge of character assassination of another woman from her neighbourhood.

Ganga Chand Thakuri had created a fake account on Facebook in the name of the victim and posted obscene photos tagging her friends and relatives.

The preliminary investigation showed that Thakuri used a Samsung mobile phone to create the Facebook account and post the salacious posts.

Thakuri was nabbed after the victim had lodged a complaint against her. Police also confiscated the mobile phone from her possession, said police.

The arrestee has been handed over to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu for further investigation.

Police said she would l face action as per the Electronic Transactions Act, 2008.
