Surprise visitor at Sindhupalchok offices

Kathmandu, November 7

Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav today made a surprise visit to the office of the chief returning officer in Sindhupalchok.

Yadav reached the district to monitor preparations for the provincial and parliamentary elections slated for November 26. During his visit, he also inspected District Election Office, and District Administration Office.

According to a press release issued by EC Co-spokesperson Mukunda Sharma, Yadav took account of manpower management and electoral materials available with Chief Returning Officer Deepak Khanal, District Election Officer Bijaya Kumar Karki and Chief District Officer Asman Tamang. He directed government employees at the District Administration Office to encourage candidates to follow the election code of conduct.

Yadav also directed them to take precautions while collecting ballot boxes after the election and coordinate with political parties and candidates to avoid possible untoward incidents.

Meanwhile, addressing a press meet at the district headquarters in Chautara today, Yadav informed that the voter education programme would start from November 11. Yadav hoped for peaceful election campaigns and vote counting saying that the government had made all security arrangements across the country and almost allĀ  political parties were committed to hold peaceful elections.
