Survey officer arrested for taking bribe

CHITWAN: A team from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) mid-central regional office, Hetauda, has arrested a survey officer of Bharatpur, in Chitwan on Sunday.

The arrested has been identified as Ramakanta Acharya. He was accused of taking Rs 1 lakh bribe money from a service seeker last Tuesday. He has been absconding since then.

The anti-graft body also arrested Dil Bahadur Budhathoki on the same day and it has been searching for Hari Acharya, another suspect who played the role of mediator in the bribe-taking case.

According to spokesperson Mahendra Bhattarai of CIAA regional office. Hetauda, Ramakanta was arrested after he had taken the amount to correct a land document belonging to Moti Bahadur Baraili of Khairani Municipality.

Baraili had informed the anti-graft body after handing over the amount to Ramakanta.

The CIAA team raided the Survey Office immediately after Baraili informed about the case. Bhattarai further informed that Ramakanta had attended office last Thursday after a leave of two days.

“The CIAA team took Ramakanta under control after he did not present himself at the CIAA office though he had been asked to do so.
