KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress vice president Sushil Koirala today accused Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and his party, UCPN-Maoist, of behaving contrary to their commitment.
Speaking here today, he said, "The PM frequently meets NC president Girija Prasad Koirala and pleads for cooperation and unity. But the premier and his party always act to the wrong effect."
The Maoists are harbouring anarchy by violating democratic norms and attacking state institutions on all fronts, he said. "It proves they are giving lip-service to democracy and that they are not committed to writing the constitution on time."
The NC veep alleged that the Maoists were trying to attain absolute power by creating anarchy. He criticised the Maoists for what he called craving for cheap popularity, rampantly misusing the state coffers and protecting criminals.
He said the Comprehensive Peace Accord was not for an unconditional integration of Maoist combatants into the national army -- it talked only about managing them. The NC veteran warned of another conflict if the combatants were merged with the army.
