Suspects of failed abduction attempt held from Nawalparasi

NAWALPARASI: Police in Nawalparasi district said they recently arrested four suspects of a failed abduction attempt occurred four months ago.

An attempt to kidnap a seven-year-old boy from Pragati Nagar of the district had failed on March 10 this year.

Organising a press conference in Kawasoti of the district today, police made the suspects public.

The arrested are Samuel Baraili (20) and Sadip BK (27) of Devchuli Municipality in Rupandehi; and Khadga Bahadur Sunar (28) and Hem Bahadur Sunar (21) of Tilottama Municipality-3, Nawalparasi. They were arrested from their homes, said ASI Rajesh Thapa.

According to police, they had attempted to kidnap Prasid Sapkota, son of Bishnu Sapkota at around 10:25 am from premise of Bishwo Jyoti Higher Secondary School on March 10.

Though they failed to execute the plot, they had been demanding Rs 10 million from the father and threatening of killing the boy if not paid, according to police.

Later, they had finalised a deal to pay Rs 1 million.

Two suspects are on the run and police are looking for them.
