Swollen Kaligandaki river destroys micro-hydro project

Damauli, July 27

Flood in the Kaligandaki River destroyed Chherenga Khola Micro Hydro Project at Baidi VDC in Tanahun today.

Chairman Gom Bahadur Magar of the project said that property worth Rs 15 lakh was destroyed in the flood. Magar said that the flood had destroyed the project’s equipment including generator and others.

As many as 223 households were affected the most after electricity service was obstructed due to the destruction.

It is said that industries and factories were shut down after the power supply was halted. Secretary Rishi Ram Ranabhat of the project said that the locals were unable to use household appliances following the same.

The 35 KW project was established in 1999 at a cost of Rs 56 lakh. Former crown prince Dipendra Shah had inaugurated the project on December 12, 2000.
