Tamu Museum opened after three years

Lamjung, January 19

The Tamu Museum in Lamjung, which had been padlocked for three years, opened its doors from yesterday.

The local administration had padlocked the museum due to disputes between then chairperson of Ethnic Nationality Khem Jung Gurung, and Chairperson of Tamu Hyula Chhoj Dhi Gurung National Council Prem Ghale.

The museum reopened after lawmaker Jamindra Man Ghale, NC general convention member Gam Prasad Gurung, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party leader Hem Jung Gurung were given the responsibility for it.

Chief District Officer Mohan Bahadur GC said they opened the museum after a long discussion with the two men.

The museum has been renamed to Tamu Gurung Museum. A 21-member working committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Jamdar Thakur Prasad Gurung.

The committee has picked ten representatives to take part in the national convention to be held in Nawalparasi.
