Tanahun-2 ‘A’ ballot papers, deed of public probe sought

Kathmandu: The constitutional bench  of the Supreme Court today directed the Election Commission to furnish ballot papers and deed of public inquiry of Tanahun- 2 (A) in the case filed by Nepali Congress youth leader Pradeep Poudel.

The bench consists of Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli, Deepak Raj Joshee, Om Prakash Mishra, Cholendra Shumsher Rana, and Deepak Kumar Karki. It directed the poll panel to present ballot papers and the deed of public inquiry in the next hearing.

NC leader Poudel demanded re-polling after an excess of 42 ballot papers were discovered in his constituency.

A total of 2,370 ballot papers were found in five ballot boxes, whereas only be 2,328 votes were registered in the votes cast list.

Excess votes were found while counting the five boxes brought from Majhilang, Saage Nepaltar, Jana Jaukumari, Min HS and Uday HS polling centre in Tanahun 2 (A). Paudel was defeated by CPN-MC’s candidate Asha Koirala by a margin of only five votes.
