Tanahun journos demand ‘full press freedom’ in statute
DAMAULI: Media personnel of Tanahun have submitted a memorandum to the Constituent Assembly, demanding that the new constitution ensure full press freedom.
The scribes submitted the memo to the Chief District Officer (CDO) Mahadev Panth and asked him to forward it to CA Chair Subas Chandra Nembang, on Sunday.
The first draft of the new constitution, recently endorsed by the CA for public opinion collection, has removed the word ‘full’ from the phrase ‘full press freedom’ in its Preamble while there are many other errors regarding freedom of press and publication, argued the media persons.
The memo was handed over to the CDO by a delegation under the leadership of Tanahun district president of Federation of Nepali Journalists, Prakash Chandra Bhattarai.
FNJ Tanahun Secretary Ujjwol Paudel read the memo and requested the CDO for his support for the amendment and implementation of the points in question.
Panth has assured the journalists to forward the memo to the concerned body immediately.
