Taplejung in darkness for one week
TAPLEJUNG: Taplejung district is without power for the past one week after a machine of Sobukhola Hydropower Project became dysfunctional and landslide swept away the canal of the Chimal Hydropower Project.
The power to the district headquarters and its surrounding VDCs is supplied from these two projects.
District-based industries, factories and three radio stations have been affected due to this. Locals said that they have also been facing problem to charge their mobile sets.
The locals have been hit hard as they have to live in darkness and the communications and internet services are disrupted.
Station Manager at the Nepal Electricity Authority, Taplejung, Bishnu Khatiwada, said the technicians have carried out repair and maintenance of the machine, adding the electricity service would be resumed in the direct transmission line from this evening.
