Tarai probe team in Gaur

Rautahat, June 23:

The Tarai Probe Commission chaired by the Supreme Court judge Khilraj Regmi, formed to investigate the Tarai incident, today arrived in Gaur, the district headquarters of Rautahat.

The five-member team visited the sites where the incidents occurred during the Tarai unrest

in Magh 2063 (January /February 2007) launched by the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (MJF).

The commission’ branch office has been established in a building of Karmachari Milan Kendra located at Gaur municipality.

During the agitation six Gaur-based government offices were set ablaze, a dozen others were vandalised and some houses of political leaders and locals were vandalised.

Several other public property was also destroyed by the agitating cadres of the MJF.

The commission will submit its report to the government within two months, sources said.

Other members of the commission include Patan Appellate Court judge Janardan Bahadur Khadka, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Sukh Chandra Jha of National Investigation, AIG Rabindra Pratap Shah of Nepal Police and co-attorney general Raj Narayan Pathak.
