Task-force indecisive on PLA integration model

Kathmandu, June 10:

The six-member task force of the CPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML today failed to reach a consensus on integration of Maoist combatants into the security agencies.

The Maoists demanded integration of the PLA fighers and security agencies directly regardless of their capacity and qualification but other party leaders disagreed over such a model and suggested integration on the basis of personal capacity.

“We could not agree over the issue of integration of Maoist fighters and referred the issue to the top leaders,” member of the taskforce from the CPN-UML Agni Kharel told.

The panel also failed to agree on induction of ministers of different parties in the Security Council and the Constitutional Council.

“The Maoists are not ready to induct opposition leaders in the councils and they do not also want to pick members from other political parties,” he added.
