Ilam, November 20:

Four students were beaten up by a teacher of Kalikadevi Lower Secondary School at Samdin of Phidim district today, with one of them in a critical state.

Deepa Adhikari, a seventh grade student was critically injured when a teacher, Bidur Poudel, thrashed her and three others. Adhikari has been taken to the district hospital for treatment.

Students said Poudel beat up the students for littering the class. “Deepa was hit in the waist and needs to be operated upon. She has been admitted to the district hospital,” said Radhika, Deepa’s mother.
