Teams to monitor West Seti

KATHMANDU: The government has formed a steering committee and a task force to monitor the activities of the West Seti Hydro Project and to effectively carry out the project activities.

A member of the National Planning Commission, who is assigned to look into energy issues, will lead the steering committee and director general of the Electricity Development Board will lead the task force.

Secretaries at the ministries of Finance, Agriculture and Cooperatives, Home, Water Resources, Land Reforms and Management, Forest and Soil Conservation, Environment, Science and Technology and Local development and director general of the Electricity Development Board will be members of the steering committee.

The task force will have the joint-secretaries at ministries of Finance, Environment, Science and Technology and Local Development as members.

The committee has been authorised with seven tasks related to the project, while the task force has been assigned with six tasks. The formation of two bodies will expedite the project, according to West Seti Hydro Limited.
