SOLUKHUMBU: A 17-year-old mother died and her child sustained minor injuries a tree fell upon them in Deusa of Solukhumbu district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Sashikala Rai of Deusa-5.

Locals Naranath Rai and Subharam Rai were cutting a tree that fell upon the mother-child duo, police said.

It has been learnt that Sashikala was returning home from a health post after vaccinating her one-and-a-half month old baby.

Police said the infant is being treated at a local health post.

Meanwhile, the District Police Office, Solukhumbu, detained Naranath and Subharam for investigation, informed Inspector Pushkar Bogati.
