SAPTARI: A teenager was killed in a tusker attack at Saptakoshi Municipality-10 in Saptari.

Sangita Yadav, around 13 years of age, was attacked by the elephant came from the Koshi Wildlife Reserve, said Kanchanpur Area Police Chief Inspector Meghraj Thapa.

The incident occurred while she had gone to a local jungle to graze the cattle.

The elephant appeared on the scene all of a sudden and started chasing the girl, explained 19 year-old Shyam Ram who was accompanying the girl and witnessed the incident.

However, Ram managed to flee the scene and informed the villagers about the incident. The girl was found dead this morning. The body has been sent to the Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital for autopsy, said police.
