DAMAULI: A teenager was killed when a scooter he was riding on collided with a truck in Shuklagandaki Municipality-6 along the Damauli-Kotre road section of Prithivi Highway in Tanahun district on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as the scooter rider Suman Thakuri (19) of Syangja district, who had currently been residing in Shuklagandaki Municipality-5.

The truck (Na Ja Kha 7030) heading towards Damauli from Pokhara collided head-on with the scooter (Ga 13 Pa 4160) injuring Thakuri in Khairenitar last night, according to Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sunil Malla at the Tanahun District Police Office (DPO).

Critically injured Thakuri was rushed to the Dulegaunda-based GP Koirala Respiratory Hospital. After receiving minor treatment there, he was referred to the Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara where he breathed his last at 2:30 am today during the course of treatment, according to Malla.

Meanwhile, the Belchautara-based Area Police Office has impounded the truck and detained its driver for further investigation, police informed.
