UPDATE: Three persons, one each in Banke, Morang and Khotang, died while undergoing physical ability test for the recruitment as temporary police for the upcoming local level elections, on Saturday.

Kishor Niraula (24), who had collapsed during a mandatory run as a part of the physical ability test, breathed his last at the Khotang District Hospital this evening, the Rastriya Samachar Samiti reported quoting DSP Naveen Kishor Pradhan.

KATHMANDU: Two persons died while undergoing physical ability test for the recruitment as temporary police for the upcoming local level elections, in two districts on Saturday.

The Banke District Police Office reported that 29-year-old Tol Bahadur Tharu from Baijapur of the district complained of giddiness and collapsed after completing his physical test at Regional Police Training Centre today.

He breathed his last on the way to the nearby Bheri Zonal Hospital.

In another case, 29-year-old Tulasi Rajbanshi from Biratnagar-16 passed out after falling down during a run in Biratnagar.

He was pronounced dead by the Koshi Zonal Hospital on arrival.

One unconscious in Khotang

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Kishor Niraula, who had participated in a run as a part of the selection process, fell unconscious in Diktel of Khotang. He is undergoing treatment at the Diktel-based District Hospital.

The Nepal Police is recruiting 75,000 people, aged between 18 and 54,as temporary police to assist in the security arrangements during the elections in local level ended.

With more than 1,72,000 aspirants applying for the 55-day job,  the Nepal Police started selection process today. The application deadline ended on Thursday.

The selection process will end on April 3 and results will be announced on April 4, coording to Nepal Police.

The selected candidates will being  a 15-day training on April 21.
