Tension runs high after youth’s death in clash

Tension ran high after a youth died in a clash between two groups in Attariya bazaar area of Kailali today.

Relatives of the deceased and locals shut down Attariya bazaar and staged demonstration demanding the arrest of culprits. The ongoing provincial fair in Attariya has been postponed following the demonstration.

The clash erupted when two groups of youth were returning from the fair last evening. Police said Arun Bhatta, 20, of Godawari Municipality died in the clash while three youths were injured.

Chief of Kailali District Police Office Superintendent of Police Aabhusan Timsina said Bhatta had lost his life in the clash that erupted between the two group of youth while they were returning home from the fair.

SP Timsina added four critically injured youths had been taken to Padma Hospital immediately after the incident. Police said Bhatta was referred to Seti Zonal Hospital after treatment was impossible in Padma Hospital. But the critically injured Bhatta died on the way to the zonal hospital, said police.
