TERHATHUM: A person reportedly died on the spot after a tree trunk fell over him at Khorung Khola in Menchhyayem Rural Municipality-4 in Terhathum district on Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as a local resident Chandra Bahadur Nepali.

Nepali died after a tree trunk being cut nearby fell over him while he was fishing in the river yesterday, according to the Terhathum District Police Office (DPO).

Body of the deceased has been sent to the District Hospital for an autopsy, said police.

Meanwhile, police have arrested seven persons who were cutting the timber for the purpose of making wood logs, the Police Inspector Basudev Yadav at the DPO said.

The arrestees are local residents Subash Tamang, Pushpa Tamang, Tek Bahadur Bhujel, Tikaram Pyakurel, Man Bahadur Bhujel, Bijuli Bahadur Tamang and Shyam Bahadur Tamang.
