Tharu body’s parallel plan
BIRGUNJ: Tharuhat Struggle Committee (TSC), a joint front of different Tharu bodies, said Monday that they would soon declare a parallel government.
Speaking at a press meet here today, Laxman Tharu, coordinator of the TSC, said local government would be established in Tharuhat region soon.
“We will boycott the local bodies of the government and set up our own local bodies,” Tharu added.
Tharu also said the TSC had been compelled to form their own local bodies after the government continued to ignore their issues.
Criticising the activities of Madhes-based parties, Tharu claimed that there was no place or area in Nepal called Madhes.
“The TSC has been fighting for all people living in Tarai. Our agitation is aimed at uplifting the standard of disadvantaged groups.
We will soon form a national policy to address the woes of Tharus, indigneous nationalities, backward groups and Muslims,” he added.
Tharu further added that a new party would be established as an alternative force in Tarai within three months.
During the press conference, the TSC also made public a six-point manifesto proposed by the joint gathering of TSC, indigenous nationalities and Dalit Ganatantrik Morcha.
The joint assembly, held on June 13 and 14, had opposed the demand for ‘One Madhes, One Pradesh’.
