Thousands benefit from cost-free eye treatment in Mid-Western Nepal

DANG: As many as 296,220 persons underwent cost-free eye check-up under the year-long Community Eye Service Programme in Dang district.

The Rapti Eye Hospital at Rashyachaur organised the free camp in Dang, Rolpa, Salyan, Rukum and Pyuthan over a period of a year, Rapti Eye Hospital's External Programme Coordinator Shalikram Gautam said.

Under the year-long programme, 31,048 persons underwent cost-free surgery of their eye cataract. The hospital also gave lessons on eye health education to 95,996 students.

The hospital has been organising various programmes to eliminate the curable blindness by 2020.
