Thousands of patients benefit from Hetauda Community Eye Hospital

As many as 82,372 patients have availed eye treatment within 11 months in Hetauda Community Eye Hospital.

The hospital had operated eye treatment service from January to November of 2018.  The hospital provided service to 66,940 OPD patients. As many as 9,169 patients had received treatment in different camps organised in separate places, 4,584 patients received the service in the camps operated in different community schools and 1,679 patients had received service from eye service centres.

The hospital has also started collecting cornea. Hospital administrative Chief Sudhir Kumar Shrestha said 11 cornea had been collected till date. The hospital had also provided service to 81,755 persons in 2017. Similarly, the hospital in the same year, had provided service to 63,396 patients and as many as 18,359 patients had received service through different camps.

The administration said the hospital could not offer service to patients as per its expectation. Shrestha said the hospital was being operated at 12 per cent loss. He added that the hospital generated 88 per cent income through tickets, medicines and spectacles.  The hospital was established in 2010.
