Threat haunts Purbanchal University
KATHMANDU: All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) today warned of protest if the Purbanchal University (PU) failed to maintain transparency in its activities and fulfil their demands at the earliest.
Ram Kumari Jhankri, president of the ANNFSU, accused the political parties and the government of not being sensitive towards the educational issues.
She blamed that some universities were concerned towards
profit making despite providing services.
Addressing a press meet organised by the ANNFSU at the PU, she said that education sector of the country could never be institutionalised and managed properly if politicising continued there. She said,” The employees of the university are not as much responsible as they are suposed to.” She also argued that there was no clear cut reason for postponing exam of different levels.
Ganesh Poudel, president of the ANNFSU, at the PU, said the varsity had been misusing 805 Bighas of land at Gothgaun, Morang and wasting the infrastructure worth 35 crores. He said, “There is no transparency in the activities of the PU.” He blamed that the appointment of the employees in the university was influenced by personal motive rather than the institutional need.
Poudel demanded the PU to follow the educational calendar and conduct exams accordingly that would save the time and efforts of both the students and the parents.
