Three-day bandh

MAHOTTARI: The Jaleshwor Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) announced a three-day general strike at Jaleshwor from Wednesday. The Joint Struggle Committee including the JCCI called the general strike in protest of the theft of documents from the Land Revenue Office, Mahottari, on July 10 and the apathy of the District Administration Office in conducting an investigation into the incident. All shops, factories and industries at Jaleshwor remained closed on Wednesday due to the general strike. JCCI President Kripashanker Sah, also the coordinator of the struggle committee, said they have decided to shut down all services, including transport service, completely except ambulance service and vehicles of diplomatic missions.Before this, the JCCI had padlocked the Land Revenue Office and staged sit-in at Survey Office.

27 schools get fund 

BHOJPUR: District Education Office has allocated different amounts to 27 schools for construction of temporary classrooms after the earthquake of April 25 destroyed the school buildings in Bhojpur. Section Officer Rewati Prasad Parajuli at DEO, said the office had provided Rs 25,000 to 125,000 to schools as per the extent of damage. Parajuli further informed that as many as seven schools had received Rs 25,000, six schools had received Rs 50,000, another seven schools got Rs 75,000, six schools received Rs 100,000 and a school had received Rs 125,000 for construction of temporary classrooms. District Education Officer Basanta Prasad Koirala, said the amounts were provided to the schools on the basis of the decision taken by district disaster rescue committee. “We have decided to provide the amount to schools to speed up the teaching-learning activities,” he added.
