Three held for planting bombs at Jhapa churches
SURUNGA: Police on Tuesday said that they have arrested three persons on charge of planting and exploding bombs at churches in different places of Jhapa of eastern Nepal last week.
The District Police Office, Jhapa, paraded the suspects today.
The suspects allegedly planted Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) at churches in Surunga, Damak, Khajurgachhi and Gauradaha.
They have been identified as Ram Bhandari of Belbari, Morang, Krishna Chudal and Ram Chandra Baniya of Birtamod, Jhapa, according to SP Thakur Prasad Gyawali at DPO, Jhapa.
Some security personnel and members of the general public were injured when a bomb went off when police took it to the DPO from a Surunga-based church.
The suspects allegedly exploded bombs at Damak and Khajurgachhi the previous night.
They had left pamphlets of "Hindu Morcha Nepal" at the sites.
They face charges of organised crime, according to police.
