Three involved in child abduction, murder made public in Parsa

BIRGUNJ: Police in Parsa district today have made public three persons involved in kidnapping and killing an eight-year-old boy.

The arrested have been identified as Indian national Bikash Sharma (21), who had currently been residing in Birgunj Metropolitan City-3 in Parsa, Sikindra Sah Teli (21) of Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City-11 in Bara, and Ram Vinesh Mahato of Khapartata in Bara.

According to police, eight-year-old Karan Sah, son of Shambhu Sah, a resident of Pragatinagar in Birgunj Metropolitan City-3, who had been playing outside his house was abducted at around 10:00 am, on May 24.

Acting on the complaint of a missing child lodged at the police office, a joint team of police deployed from Province 2 Police Office based in Janakpur and Parsa District Police Office arrested the suspects. After hours of questioning, the suspect confessed to kidnapping and murdering Sah, and also pointed out the place where they had dumped his body. Subsequently, police found the body of the minor in Khaurahi River in Kalaiya-25 this morning.

A team carrying out an onsite investigation along with the suspects had to fire a Chinese pistol to stop Sharma and Teli who tried to run away, police informed.

Meanwhile, the suspects injured below their waist have been referred to Narayani Sub Regional Hospital from Kalaiya Hospital where they were receiving treatment.

Preliminary investigations showed that the kidnappers killed the boy when they did not get the ransom of Rs 3 million, said police. It has been learnt that arrested Sharma had been living as a tenant in the victim's neighbourhood.

Further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
