Three-wheeler drivers call off protest
RATNANAGAR: Three-wheeler drivers, who were staging a demonstration against the decision of the administration to bar them from the highway, have called off their protest programme.
The protest was called off following a five-point agreement reached at an all-side discussion held at the initiative of acting Chief District Officer Laxmi Prasad Banskota last evening. As per the agreement, the three-wheelers will be allowed to follow the route as maintained earlier by Bharatpur metropolis that includes 18 crossing points, as per press adviser of the metropolis Suresh Chandra Adhikari.
A task force has been formed under the leadership of deputy Mayor Parbati Shah to look into any further issues concerning route and of three-wheeler operators. Taking over the issue, the three-wheelers staged a demonstration and clashed with police yesterday.
Mahendra Sunar, who sustained bullet injuries, will receive treatment under the coordination of the metropolis and the District Administration Office. A total of 19 persons including 15 security persons were injured in the incident.
