THT, AP scribe attacked

Janakpur, October 12:

The Janakpur correspondent of The Himalayan Times and Annapurna Post, Brij Kumar Yadav, was injured when an unidentified gang attacked him last night.

“Three unknown persons, waiting on a motorcycle, hit me with a khukuri on my head near Holy Cross School as I was returning home after completing work in my office at 10:30 pm,” Yadav said. Yadav sustained a six-inch long wound in his hand while warding off the blow. He is undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

Journalists led by secretary of the FNJ, Dhanusha, Rajesh Kumar Karna, submitted a memorandum to the Dhanusha CDO Durga Nidhi Sharma calling for action against the guilty.

Led by the Dhanusha chapter of the FNJ, journalists have decided to stage a sit-in protest from 4 to 5 pm on Sunday.

Political parties and several organisations including the Ramananda Yuba Club, Samaj Utthan Kendra, Press Union have flayed the attack.
