THT scribes manhandled

Kathmandu, March 20:

Strike supporters today misbehaved with two journalists of The Himalayan Times, Razen Manandhar and Hem Dulal, in separate incidents at Thapathali.

Manandhar was going to the Maternity Hospital from Tripureshowr on his motorcycle when he was jostled, threatened and almost beaten up by the demonstrators.

Though he showed his identity card, the protesters snatched it and tried to tear if off. They also seized the motorcycle’s key and threatened to set the two-wheeler on fire for defying the bandh.

In another incident, one group of protesters allowed Dulal to pass by after checking his press card, but was stopped by another group not very far away. They threatened to set his motorcycle on fire and demanded he produce a camera to prove he was a reporter.

Demonstrators also threatened an unidentified photographer of the Associated Press at the same place.
