Tiger, rhino conservation drive launched

Chitwan, June 17

A local Tiger Youth Club today launched ‘save tiger and rhino’ campaign in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chitwan.

It also took out a rally to create awareness of the need to conserve tigers and rhinos. Locals, people’s representatives and mothers’ group participated in the rally that began from Maghauli and passed through Parsadhap, Dharampur, Buddhanagar, telauli, Gautamnagar, Sajhapur, Seruwa, Jitpur and Golalghat.

Club chair Hari Bahadur Acharya said locals had realised the need to conserve and protect wildlife. Acharya said that they had organised the rally to send the message that wild animals should not be poached.

Meghauli area is spread in ward no 27 and 28 of Bharatpur metropolis. Chair of ward number  28 of the metropolis Govind Tamang said locals levels were working to promote tourism in their respective areas.

Ward number 28 ward chair Ash Bahadur Kumal said development of the tourism would help uplift the living standards of the people. Meghauli Users’ Committee chair Shyam Prasad Adhikari said the promotion of tourism would help generate revenue.
