JHAPA:  A child died after being hit by a tipper in Surunga of Jhapa along the East-West Highway on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as eight-year-old Sparsa Giri of Kankai Municipality-9.

Police said that the tipper (Na 3 Kha 8661) heading towards west from east hit Giri this morning.

Critically injured Giri breathed his last during the course of treatment at the Birtamod-based Purna Tunga Birta City Hospital, police said.

Police said that they have impouned the tipper and arrested its driver for investigation.
