Torrential rain damages Mugu hydel project canal
MUGU: The torrential rain on Saturday night damaged a canal of the 25-megawatt under-construction Magri Hydropower in Mugu.
Construction of the project based in Magri VDC-7 had started some 20 years ago and it was about to complete.
A flood caused by the incessant rain damaged the 265-metre cemented canal, shattering the dreams of Magri folks of getting rid of darkness. As many as 400 households of wards no 5, 6, 7,8 and 9 of the Magri VDC were expected to benefit from the project.
The project developer had a plan of completing the project by mid-September and bring it into operation after Dashain.
Meanwhile, heavy showers on Friday and Saturday damaged three houses belonging to Bir Bahadur Khadka of Thini of Shreenagar VDC-3, Prabesh Malla of Charghat of Shreenagar and Man Mahadur Malla of the same locality, police said.
