KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 10

Chair of CPN-MC Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that terrorizing and torturing Rastriya Swatantra Party president Rabi Lamichhane will cost Nepali Congress- CPN-UML very dearly.

Addressing the vigilance meeting held in Chitwan on Tuesday, Dahal, who is also the former prime minister, said that the police administration encroached upon human rights when Lamichhane was taken from Chitwan to Pokhara. Yesterday Nepali Congress and UML said that they heard and saw with their own eyes that Lamichhane was offered the Prime Ministership.

"I have witnessed the situation where the leaders of NC and CPN-UML offering and requesting Rabi Lamichhane to become the prime minister," he said, "Now when he is taken from one place to another, NC and CPN-UML will have to pay heavily as the cost of terrorizing him in custody."

He also said that when he learnt about Lamichhane, he also spoke in the House after receiving information from all government agencies that his involvement is nothing in the cooperative case.

"There is no situation for the leader of the fourth largest party of the country to flee and go abroad. I have asked the government and leaders why they had to detain him," he said. "Even after he agreed to assist in the investigation and help the court."

He also questioned why the NC and UML had to fight with Rabi Lamichhane.

He also said that he would protest against the excesses of the government by calling a special session of the parliament.

He said, "We will hold a mass demonstration in Kathmandu with the support of the opposition against the government atrocities."
