Tourists receive Bhaitika

Pokhara, November 14

As many as 30 foreign tourists received bhaitika on the Ninth Bhaitika Festival held in Pokhara yesterday. Western Hotel Association Pokhara had organized the function.

Coordinator Rajendra Dhakal of the association said tourists from Australia, America, Britain, China, South Korea, and some European countries had participated in the bhaitika programme.

WHA Chairman Bharat Raj Parajuli said they had organised the festival to attract more tourists by showcasing Nepali culture and tradition.

Keshav Pahari, co-coordinator of the bhaitika festival said participation of foreign tourists in the festival had made them happy. Girl children had put saptarangi (seven-coloured) tika on the foreheads of tourists at Pokhara’s Renbo Children’s Home. They had offered delicacies including sel roti to tourists.

After receiving tika, Australian tourist Suae Rosae shared that the moment was very pleasant for her.

Candian tourist Matthew said that use of colourful tika had impressed him greatly. “The most important thing I like about Tihar is Nepal’s culture of good hospitality,” said Matthew.
