KANCHANPUR: A tractor driver drowned in the Mahakali River while collecting stones on Sunday.

The Kanchanpur District Police Office has identified the deceased as Bir Bahadur Dagaura in Jhalari Pipaladi Municipality of the district. Dagaura along with his tractor (Se 1 Ta 7648) was swept away by high currents in the Mahakali River.

A search operation in the River had recovered the body, which was stuck in the tractor, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Kedar Khanal, of the DPO.

His body has been sent to Mahakali Zonal Hospital for autopsy, police added.

Rape accused in police net

The police on Sunday arrested Bimal Chaudhary (36) of Rajapur Municipality–17 of Bardiya for allegedly raping a teenage girl.

Chaudhary was arrested from Jhalari Pipaladi Municipality–10 yesterday.

Chaudhary is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl of Attariya in Kailali two days ago. He had allured the girl with a promise of marrying her.
