GAUSHALA: A pedestrian died after she was hit by a tractor at Sahodwa VDC of Mahottari district on Friday.

According to SP Janak Bhattari of the District Police Office, Mahottari, the deceased has been identified as Karuna Devi Jha (40) of the same VDC.

Jha was on her way to home when the tractor (Ja 1 Ta 3194) hit her, leaving her critically injured, SP Bhattarai.

She was taken to the Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar for treatment. However, she died during the course of treatment, he added.

The DPO has impounded the vehicle, but the driver is on the run.

Meanwhile, Mahottari Police have confiscated livestock being illegally exported to India.

A police team deployed from the Samsi Police Post seized 8 cows and 5 calves from Radhunapur VDC-8.

The confiscated livestock have been handed over to the Customs Department Samsi, police informed.
