Traders hit as customs staffers attend wedding
Rautahat, December 11
Service delivery at the Gaur Customs Office was affected after employees there, including the office chief, closed the office and went to attend the marriage ceremony of one of their colleagues.
Businesspersons could not import goods after office chief Rajan Kafle, along with his staff went to attend the wedding of one of the staffers Roshan Kafle, closing the office during working hours, today.
A staffer at the customs office said this problem was recurrent during marriage season.
Devjit Shreevastab, a local businessman, said local traders were compelled to store their goods imported from India at the customs office. “We have to bear huge losses when we cannot deliver goods on time,” he added.
Meanwhile, section officer at the office Bimal Sah said he could do nothing about the problem. “I am unaware where the staffers have gone,” he added.
Chief District Officer Uddab Bahadur Thapa said he had already informed that the department concerned had started the procedure for taking action against defaulters.
