Traders’ strike affects Janakpur

Janakpur, September 8:

The strike called by the Janakpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI) affected life in Janakpur for the second day today.

The JCCI had called the strike demanding that the Maoists stop collecting donation and returning the property they have seized. No shop opened here today.

A rally of businessmen that went round the city chanted slogans against CDO Ram Saran Chimoriya this morning.

Representatives of local political parties except Maoists and the JCCI members met today to discuss on how the problems could be solved. The meeting, however, ended inconclusive.

The political leaders urged the traders to resolve problems through talks but the traders insisted that the Dhanusa CDO, who could not guarantee them security, should be transferred from the district. The leaders have expressed their solidarity with the stir, a statement jointly issued by JCCI said.
