LAHAN: In a bid to help reduce road accidents and ensure safe and comfortable travel, the Traffic Office has brought into operation the ‘Traffic Communications’ app in Province 2 from Sunday.
The police headquarters, highway security and traffic directorate have brought the app into action to inform whether the driver(s) have been changed in the long-route commuter vehicles.
Hari Bahadur Pal, Province 2 Police Chief and Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police, inaugurated the app amid a programme at the District Police Office in Shambhunath Municipality of Saptari.
DIG Pal said that the road accidents are recurring when long-route vehicles are being operated by a single driver. “From now onwards, the long-route vehicles are required to arrange two drivers.”
The app has been developed to determine whether or not two drivers have been managed in long-route vehicles, he said, adding that it would help book vehicles breaching the rule.
