Jhapa, June 21

Traffic Police in Jhapa have been collecting more than Rs 1 lakh on a daily basis this fiscal for flouting traffic rules.

According to statistics with District Traffic Police Office, Jhapa, the office has collected more than Rs one lakh per day on average for 11 months of this fiscal. As per DTPO Jhapa Chief Rajesh Rai, the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division took action against 57,950 erring drivers and collected revenue. It means action was taken against a total of 173 vehicles per day on average.

As many as 91 people lost lives in 154 road accidents during the period.
