Trafficking of children high at border areas: Report

KATHMANDU: Most children are found trafficked from the districts sharing the border with India.

According to the National Child Rights Council, it is found that children are trafficked especially from Banke, Sarlahi, Kanchanpur, Saptari, Siraha, Sunsari, Nawalparashi, Dolakha, Chitwan, Surkhet, Dang, Baitadi among the other districts.

A study of reports related to child marriage disseminated by various mass media in fiscal year 2018/19 showed that 96 minors were the victims of trafficking and sale during that period.

Council's spokesman Ram Bahadur Chand said that the children were taken to India to work as domestic helpers, drug peddlers along with other jobs.
