Transport entrepreneurs seek security
Kathmandu, October 11:
With Dashain around the corner, people in Kathmandu valley are still not sure whether travelling to their native villages is safe or not.
Keeping this in mind, the transport entrepreneurs have demanded that the government provide adequate security to the passenger buses that ferry large number of people to their destinations during the 15-day festivities. The Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE)
today asked the government to create an environment conducive for the people to visit their homes during Dashain and Tihar.
At a press conference organised here today, FNNTE general secretary Krishna Adhikary said the transport entrepreneurs were in red because they were not being able to run their business freely even at a time when the passenger flow is high during festival.
The FNNTE also appealed to all the political parties and agitating groups to call off all their protest programmes during festivals.
The federation has also asked the government to provide compensation to those affected by the Kapilvastu riots. He added that the government should take stern steps to punish those obstructing highways.
