Transport workers have warned that they will disrupt traffic in the eastern region for an indefinite period from January 6 if their demands were not met.
Agitating workers warned at a press conference here today that a conspiracy was being hatched to trap the drivers by preparing false documents in a road mishap case that occurred in Inaruwa three weeks ago in which a person died.
It may be mentioned that a road mishap in which a passenger bus ran over a cyclist, Ramdev Lal Dev, at Inaruwa on December 18.
The bereaved family has alleged that the driver of the bus in which Navraj Baral, brother of the DIG of the eastern regional police office, Keshav Prasad Baral, was travelling, killed Ramdev by reversing the bus and running over him repeatedly.
Meanwhile, workers’ unions in the eastern region are demanding that the driver be punished. The bereaved family has demanded Rs 2 million as compensation and life term to the driver.
