Trekking in Annapurna region continues

POKHARA: While tourists trekking at the Khumbu region have been obstructed due to the bad weather, those in Annapurna region have continued their treks.

Hari Bhujel, chair of the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), Western Regional Association, Pokhara noted that though the weather is not very bright and sunny, tourists have carried on with the trekking.

Tourism Assistant at Annapurna Conservation Area Programme (ACAP) head office, Pokhara, Tek Gurung informed that ACAP has been providing permits to tourists from its counter for the trekking. He added that the tourists are being given required information on the current weather condition before their travel, despite which the trekkers have continued on the trail.

On the other hand, increment in number of tourists at Annapurna region is thought to be due to the current bad weather in Everest region. Tourism entrepreneurs have asserted that the Annapurna region could be taken as an alternative for Everest trekking route.
