BIRGUNJ: A team of the Nepal Army arrested three persons with a huge cache of marijuana from near the Sitalpur River on Thursday.

The suspects have been identified as Chandra Bahadur Lopchan (45), Gun Bahadur Titung (46) of Kakada-2 and Purna Bahadur Blon of Manahari-2 of Makwanpur district.

Acting on a tip-off, the NA team nabbed the trio with possession of 455 kg marijuana at around 9 pm yesterday.

The drug was packed into 21 packets.

The NA team detained them while they were heading towards Sonbarsha of Prasa from Manahari of Makwanpur with the contraband drug.

Though there were 24 persons, the NA mobile team had managed to nab only three as others fled the scene after they saw the security personnel, the NA informed.

The suspects have been handed over to the District Police Office, Parsa this morning for investigation.
