CHITWAN: A woman died after a truck hit a motorbike she was riding pillion at Bharatpur Sub-Metropolitan City-9 in Chitwan on Friday.

The victim has been identified as Sita Kandel (45) of Bharatpur Sub-Metropolitan City-8.

It has been learned that Kandel was newly elected President of the Kandel Women Association, Bharatpur Sub-Metropolitan City-8.

Police said that the truck (Na 3 Kha 5474) hit the motorbike (Na 23 Pa 7873) this morning.

Kandel's husband Tulsiram (53), who was riding the bike, was critically injured in the incident.

He is receiving treatment at the Chitwan Medical College, Chitwan.

Police said that they have impounded the truck and arrested its driver for investigation.
